Last weekend I met up with the Little Troubles UK community kids.
We’ve never had a tournament in the UK, much less an official one! So this was a real achievement for the TCG, the players who’ve become bigs and the artists who all attended.
We had two tournaments. The Saturday was a playdate draft event hosted by Felix, and then we had a grade school tournament hosted by Jow.
I really enjoyed actually playing the game with different levels of players. I even beat the bigs once or twice!
Day 1 – Playdate Draft Event
The Playdate Draft event acted as a perfect leveller for the different players who turned up to the event. we were all given a starter deck, and a few booster packs to customise them. This meant that everyone was playing with new decks and had a similar level of ‘power’ between them. I won my first match against Chester!
I didn’t make the finals so I played our friend Jimbo ‘for funnies’ and we ended up un a gruelling match that lasted 2.5 hours because we were just neck and neck the entire time. It was both my favourite game I played all weekend and my least favourite. I do have a big appreciation for the ‘Conference Room Chaos’ card though.
Later that evening the group went to Spitfire BBQ in Bristol centre and we had an absolute feast. We then topped it off with Karaoke, and that might have been the whoopsie because we all came out with broken voice boxes! But there was a particularly fabulous rendition of Sia’s Chandelier.
Day 2 – Grade School Tournament
Sunday was the big event, we all had decks from yesterday, some of the more seasoned players had decks ready made. So the battle begun!
I won my first match against Chester, and somehow won a very VERY close match against ASM, like at one point I had no characters out and maybe 6 cookies to my name? It was quite the comeback.
Chester floored me in the final, but that was fine! He actually won both tournaments.I somehow managed to come in second place.
My prize was a beautiful artist proof card from Broker, which I really wanted, so happy days!
